ABC News: Video: Good Morning America: Pope Francis Comments on Gay Priests, Homosexuality: ‘Who Am I to Judge’

Liberal Pope?

Liberal Pope?

Pope Francis Comments on Gay Priests, Homosexuality: 'Who Am I to Judge' – YouTube.

I don’t want to make too much of this and overplay it but Pope Francis’s statement of ‘who am I to judge’. Referring to homosexuals is exactly what it means to be a Liberal and what Liberalism is about. That even if you are not Gay yourself, so what if other people are especially if they are good people who are productive and so forth. How they live their own lives is their business as long as they aren’t hurting innocent people with what they are. Doing which of course is what the religious-right and Neoconservatives hate about individualism. Which is exactly what the so-called culture war was about. Individualists vs Collectivists in what it means to be an American and how Americans should live their lives. And I’m sure Pope Francis will have some trouble with these factions but what Pope Francis is saying is that we should judge people as people. And not members of different groups which is a classical Liberal position. Not Libertarian but Liberal and I give him a lot of credit for that.
